The game’s been building itself up for a few years now. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover, sent to us by Titan Books, builds the world of this new Spider-verse that gives us more insight into Spidey’s life before the PS4 game takes place. So what happens when you make a Marvel novel meant to act as a sequel to a video game? You get something purely enjoyable for anybody who enjoys a good amount of backstory. We’ve seen him countless times in movies and videos games, and even novels. The amazing Spider-Man is a great Marvel Comics staple. All of the MCU Spider-Man suits are featured in the game as well, so perhaps Insomniac Games hoped to make the Peter fall more in line with these MCU connections.By Mia Johnson 4 years ago David Liss’ Spider-Man: Hostile Takeover acts as a prequel to the PS4 video game, and it’ll get you amped to discover more about this Spider-verse. PS4 already includes numerous connections to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in particular, featuring its own version of Avengers Tower and Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum. The update is not a downgrade by any means, but some players may need some time to adjust to Peter's new look. PS4 follows a Spidey that is in the prime of his crime-fighting career, so a shift to a younger looking Peter is an interesting choice. Little criticism was given to how the game looked visually on PS4, so an update to Peter Parker is quite a surprise indeed. PS4, calling into question why Peter was changed specifically. Interestingly, the model for Otto Octavius appears to be the same as the one from Was believed to be a simple upscale to work better and take advantage of PS5 hardware, though it seems much more has been updated for this new version.
